Christian Burial of the Dead
From the earliest days of the Church, Christians were known for burying the dead, whether rich or poor. And they marked this occasion with a beautiful liturgy, commending the dead to the care of God, singing in praise of the hope they have been given in Christ's resurrection, a promise that death has been defeated. That the soul of the departed rests in God's company and awaits that glorious day in which the body will be resurrected.
As Christian priests, the clergy of St. James are available to perform funerals and graveside services for anyone, Christian or not.
We encourage everyone to make funeral preparations now in consultation with their priest so that those they leave behind are not overwhelmed with having to make plans while grieving.
