St. James Mission Fund was established to support any parishioner that would like to travel with a group doing mission work in distant places. The fund is supported through various fundraising efforts of groups or individuals. When preparing for a mission trip, the best practice is for funding to come from 1/3 personal funds, 1/3 support from the church, and 1/3 from various personal fundraising efforts. The funds are all funneled through the Mission Fund to allow any contributor to have tax benefits and also to allow transparency as to where funds are distributed. The current contributions to this fund have been from an exercise class taught at St. James. Members of the class pay their fees to the church with the understanding that they will be used for Mission work. Currently, Deacon Lois Maberry has been using these funds to assist with her travel to Hoima, Uganda.
