Inquirers' Classes
IT’S NEVER TOO LATE TO ASK!
A series of six classes is taught by the rector as preparation to become an active member of the Episcopal Church. The class generally begins eight to twelve weeks prior to the Bishop’s annual confirmation visitation. Topics include the “Book of Common Prayer,” “Scripture, Reason and Tradition,” “Sacraments, Services, Servers,” and “The Church Calendar and Lectionary.” While the class is primarily for those wishing to be confirmed or received into the Episcopal Church, anyone who wishes to learn more about the Church is welcome to attend. Our sessions are informal and ALL questions are encouraged! Please contact the office for more information (318) 686-1261.
Dates and times are set for the 2016 Inquirers' Classes at St. James. They will be held Wednesday evenings 6pm to 7:30pm in the Parish Hall or the Library (depending on the number of participants). Anyone who wishes to bring a sack lunch is welcome to do so.
It is not too late to sign up. If you are interested in learning more about the Episcopal Church, either in preparation for confirmation or reception or because you just want to know, this is the class to join. If you want a refresher on things you learned in the past, please come along. If you just want another perspective, now's the time to get one. Contact the parish office at 686-1261 to get your name on the list.
Inquirers' Class is usually taught by the rector, but since we are currently without, we have recruited other knowledgeable instructors: Bert Babington and Ken Murphy will teach about church history. Deacon Lois Maberry will teach about mission and ministry. The Rev'd Guido Verbeck will teach about the sacraments.
Here is the plan:
March 30th - Bert Babington
April 6th - Lois Maberry
April 13th - Lois Maberry
April 20th - Ken Murphy
April 27th - Guido Verbeck
May 4th - Guido Verbeck
May 8th - Bishop Jake's visit to St. James--We will have one service at 10am
